I'm not a rookie by any means, but made the rookie mistake of cutting a size based on my measurements and not the finished garment measurements (I didn't even glance at them assuming they'd be mostly the same as the original) and ended up with a "top" that was long enough to be a dress and big enough to fit another one of me inside. Your post doesn't fill me with confidence regarding their drafting skills! I have several old sorbetto's in my wardrobe and find they fit well. They are basically the same thing but I would award higher points to the Italians when it comes to frozen desserts. Just from the photos it looks like the old version fits much better.
